2025 – St. George’s Day, award winners.

Date: 6th May 2025 Author: Keith Spragg

Every year, Scouts throughout the land get together to celebrate the Patron Saint of Scouts, Saint George.

In the Central Stockport area, we celebrate by parading along the A6 from Stockport Grammar School, past The Hollies and on to St. George’s Church.

When there, there’s a short event where we celebrate what makes Scouting special, and congratulate people from across the District who have managed to achieve special awards – either for length of duty or special merit for tireless work that has been done in the name of Scouting.

This year there were 5 of our Leaders and Volunteers who were recognised:

Volunteer Recognition
Alison Moorhouse Award for Merit
Andrew “PJ” Partington Chief Scout’s Commendation
Sammy Smith 5 Years Service
Alice Ledger 5 Years Service
Andy Gough 25 Years Service

We would like to congratulate all the 1st Davenport Mile End volunteers who have given their time so freely to the cause.

Included here is a full list of all the Stockport District winners:

Finally, here are some pictures from the day, to give you a feeling of what its like to parade with the Scouts on a huge day of celebration.
